Malaysia bag 8 golds to pull away on Day 2

MALAYSIA were in cracking form on Day 2 of the 29th Sea Games, scooping eight golds with recurve archers claiming a double in the men’s and women’s team contest and Games rookie Yeap Wai Kin claiming a second gold in wushu, to make it 24 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze medals for the home contingent, who are topping the table.
Swimmer Welson Sim was among the local heroes at the National Aquatic Centre, propelled forward by a powerful opening that shaved three seconds off his own Games record, clocking it at 3:50.26s to defend the 400m freestyle title. It was Malaysia’s solitary title tonight as five records were smashed in six races.
