WESAK Day is celebrated by Buddhists across the country in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere, in line with the practice of religious freedom in a pluralistic society.

Buddhists began visiting temples early morning to carry out religious rituals and pay tribute to Siddharta Gautama, the founder of the religion.

The lively yet modest celebration filled the air when some 3,000 devotees visited the Maha Vihara Buddhist Temple in Brickfields to conduct religious ceremonies by lighting candles and bringing flowers to symbolise the birth, enlightenment and death of Gautama Buddha. – May 20, 2019.
