THOUSANDS of devotees thronged the street heading to the Sri Maha Kaliamman temple in Bandar Baru Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, for its annual Thiruvizha festival. The feast is in honour of the Hindu goddess Kali.

Devotees show their sacrifice and devotion for the goddess by having metal skewers pierced to the skin, carrying ‘paal kodam’ (milk pots) and some carry fire pots, heading towards the temple. – June 24, 2019.
