PENANG played host to some 2,000 delegates from Malaysia and around the region for the 30th International Baba Nyonya Convention last weekend. 

Some 500 delegates from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Australia joined Baba and Nyonya delegates from participating states in Malaysia, including Melaka, Selangor, Kelantan and Terengganu.

The three-day convention was hosted by the State Chinese (Penang) Association.

Highlights of the event, besides the convention proper, were the Gala Dinner at Majestic Theatre and the Peranakan Procession that included two Baba Nyonya Dondang Sayang floats, a chingay performance plus lion and dragon dances. – November 28, 2017.
