FLOWER growers in Cameron Highlands are relieved to learn they are allowed to keep their farms open during the lockdown.

Human Resources Minister M. Saravanan announced on Saturday that the National Security Council was allowing floriculturists to operate after learning that they will have to throw away their harvests if they are shut down.

Floriculture is not classed as an essential service.

The farmers said each farm had discarded a tonne of flowers daily since the beginning of the lockdown. – June 16, 2021.
