TWO years of absence from the stage due to the pandemic did not stop the E-Xin Lion Dance Group from performing – albeit only for themselves in rehearsals.

For nearly 10 years, the troupe has practised its craft in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur.

During the many months of Covid-induced shutdown, the dancers continued to practise three times a week to keep their skills from turning rusty.

At its peak, the troupe had up to 40 members but the number has dwindled to fewer than 20.

Recently the government has allowed the lion dance to return so that the Chinese New Year celebration is complete once more. - Febuary 1, 2022.
