MASJID Jamek is one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur. It is located at the confluence of Klang and Gombak River and was built over old Malay burial grounds. The mosque was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback and built in 1909.

Masjid Jamek is known as the mosque for the homeless due to its provision of shelter and food for those in need. 

The 108-year-old heritage mosque is now due for an upgrade to become a tourist attraction  It will also have a new name to go with the facelift. Henceforth, Masjid Jamek will be known as the Sultan Abdul Samad Mosque. June 22, 2017.
