RUSLAN Kasim, a former PKR leader who later joined Umno, has left the former ruling party to campaign for Anwar Ibrahim in the Port Dickson by-election.

Ruslan, who was an early Reformasi leader and formerly PKR information chief, was branded a turncoat when he joined Umno in 2004. He resigned from the party in June, a month after the Barisan Nasional lost power in the May 9 general election.

He said he was “deceived” by Umno, and had recently sought forgiveness from Anwar.

“Politics is dynamic. I looked at the new government and I felt I had a role to play,” Ruslan told The Malaysian Insight.

“I have apologised to Anwar profusely on all those things I said and have done,” he said at a ceramah in Teluk Kemang last night.

Ruslan said the PKR president told him that all was forgiven and wanted him to join Pakatan Harapan.

“He said let bygones be bygones.”

Ruslan left Umno in June this year to join the Bersatu chapter in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan.

He said he will be campaigning with Anwar in Port Dickson until the by-election day on October 13. – October 3, 2018.
