ECONOMIC Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali told the people of Bagan Pinang that he will be tabling a white paper on the corruption surrounding Felda.

The PKR deputy president said the cabinet has already agreed and the white paper will be tabled in Parliament after Budget 2019.

“The cabinet has decided for us to be transparent to Felda settlers and proposed a white paper to explain its financial status,” Azmin told the crowd in Bagan Pinang, Port Dickson when campaigning for PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim.

The PKR deputy president said the government has also appointed a forensic auditor to investigate Felda’s finances.

“The ministry has also appointed a forensic auditor so that a comprehensive report will be tabled in Parliament. We will table it in the next session after Budget 2019,” Azmin added.

Anwar’s competitor, former Negri Sembilan menteri besar Isa Samad, was implicated in a Felda scandal last year.

The former Umno man, who is contesting as an independent, was questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) but maintained his innocence.

However, when asked about Isa’s involvement, Azmin refused to disclose the details of the investigation.

“I’m not in the position to make any assumption at this moment. Wait for full audit to be presented to Parliament and members of Parliament to assess,” he said.

The Gombak MP added there were several Felda cases that were under being investigated by MACC but refused comment further.

“There are things that are under the MACC investigation, we do not want to overstep their boundaries,” Azmin said. – October 12, 2018.
