ANWAR Ibrahim is concerned out-of-town voters may not return to vote as balloting for the Port Dickson by-election begins this morning.

“The outstation voters are still a concern,” he told The Malaysian Insight at SK Panglima Adnan in Bagan Pinang, Port Dickson, today.

The PKR president-elect said many in PD appeared to have taken heed of the warning of rain in the afternoon and had come out early to vote.

“We are worried about the weather. The turnout is good this morning,” Anwar said.

Meanwhile, PAS has shuttled a busload of supporters from Terengganu for its candidate, air force veteran Mohd Nazari Mokhtar.

Five independent candidates – Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, Isa Samad, Lau Seck Yan, Stevie Chan and Kan Chee Yuen – are also in the running for the seat.

Pakatan Harapan supporters were also out in force, waving the coalition flag and calling for “Reformasi”.

Former Negri Sembilan menteri besar Isa’s booth, in contrast, showed only a few workers sitting around.

His election poster depicting a chair and the invitation to “Sila duduk, Jangan Lari” – a take on the phrase uttered by the Agong on the first day of Parliament this year, can be seen all around the polling station. – October 13, 2018.
