THE MCA president’s post, which was expected be a straight fight between Dr Wee Ka Siong and Gan Ping Sieu, has turned into a three-cornered fight after Ngoo Teck Keong joined the fray.
Ngoo is from the party’s Beruas division. He left immediately after filing his nomination papers today.
However, the fight for the deputy president’s position will be a straight fight between Tee Siew Kiong and Dr Mah Hang Soon.
The Youth chief post will also be a straight fight between Nicole Wong Siaw Ting and Ng Kian Nam.
Unlike other parties, the MCA youth wing is gender neutral and a woman can bid to be its president.
For the first time, the party’s Wanita wing did not see any contest for any of its positions at the closing of nominations.
There was no contest for the entire Wanita national line-up of 31 elected posts – chairman, deputy chairman, four vice-chairmen and 25 central committee members.
Incumbent chairman Heng Seai Kie was returned unopposed while her new deputy is Wong You Fong.
The four vice chairmen are Wang Kim Lean, Lim Nget Yoon, Chiew Hong Lan and Pamela Yong. – October 15, 2018.
