NAZRI Aziz said his Umno colleague Hishammuddin Hussein deserved kudos for his efforts to help Putrajaya locate fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, who was said to be in China.

The Padang Rengas MP said Hishammuddin was right to take the initiative as many people were interested in the whereabouts of the businessman popularly known as Jho Low.

“Good. I think Hishammuddin is doing the right thing. If he knows people he should help. We want to know where Jho Low is and see him back in the country. We want to know his story,” he told reporters in the Parliament lobby today.

Yesterday the former special functions minister said he was reaching out to “friends from the past” among Chinese officials to track down the alleged mastermind of the scheme to defraud 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

“I am doing this in my personal capacity. I am not doing this in any other capacity We want justice and closure and if it’s true that he is in China, I will use the networking that I have ensure he comes back and be served justice – I am not sure if it can be done.

“But I have enough contacts, friends, from the past, in the leadership,” the former defence minister had said.

Nazri said Hishammuddin’s efforts should not be construed as an attempt to escape investigation by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission.

“He can’t escape the MACC. If there is any proof of wrongdoing they will charge him.

“If you read what’s on the internet, there are all sorts of allegations against me for being corrupt. You can’t simply use this to charge me. There has to be an investigation and solid proof before anyone can be taken to court.”. –  September 30, 2018.
