INSTEAD of going to China himself to meet his contacts, former defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein should share his Chinese contacts who could help Malaysian authorities track down businessman Low Taek Jho, Deputy Home Minister Azis Jamman said.

“The best thing for him to do would be to give such information to the ministry; there’s no need for him to go there.

“If he has information on Jho Low’s whereabouts, isn’t it better for him to come forward and share that with us?” Azis said, at the Parliament lobby today.

Reporters had asked him whether Hishammuddin had discussed his offer to help with the Home Ministry.

Hishammuddin, who formerly also held the Home Ministry portfolio, had earlier this week offered to talk to his connections in Beijing to help Putrajaya find Low, allegedly the mastermind in the scheme  to defraud 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

Low is believed to be hiding out in China after he was charged with money laundering in absentia in Malaysia.

Hishammuddin said he offered to help the new government because he himself wanted to know the truth about 1MDB. – October 25, 2018.
