OVER 60,000 wishes from Malaysians which were acquired during the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) initiative will be used to formulate the country’s development plans.
Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman said the data obtained will be used to for the Vision 2020 initiative and the 12th Malaysia Plan.
“The government via this ministry will work on the wishes as the base for the country’s development plans, the implementation of Vision 2020 and the formulation of the 12th Malaysia Plan,” he said in a written reply in parliament.
Former minister Joseph Kurup has asked about the wishes collected during the TN50 roadshows when Barisan Nasional was in power.
Syed Saddiq also added the wishes will be used as a guide for the bottom-up approach the Pakatan Harapan government is taking.
“This information will also be a guide in forming policies for every ministry using the bottom up approach, especially those that involve the youth,” he said.
TN50 was the brainchild of former prime minister Najib Razak. It seeks to take a ground-up approach to laying down policies that would be pursued until 2050.
The wishes were collected during the TN50 initiative outreach programme organised by the Youth and Sports Ministry over the past year. – October 29, 2018.
