PAS and Umno are working well together, unlike Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s assessment of the alliance, said former prime minister Najib Razak.

The former Umno president cited numerous examples of their newfound closeness, such as Umno division leader Johan Abdul Aziz officiating the Hulu Langat PAS branch.

“Just imagine an Umno division leader officiating a PAS branch. It has never happened in the history of Malaysia,” he said during a ceramah in the Semenyih by-election last night.

Another example is when PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan embraced Najib before the start of a football match.

“Takiyuddin hugged me while we ate durian, watched football in a mamak.

“That’s a first for the history books us sitting together to watch a match.”

Najib also alluded to his newfound social media fame, saying that pasar malam traders are enjoying roaring trade with his “Malu apa bossku” t-shirts.

“The pasar malam traders are able to sell nearly 100 T-shirts every day,” he told the cheering crowd.

Najib quipped that his only regret is not to apply copyright for Malu apa bossku but he did not mind traders profiting.

“I do not get royalties or commissions. Yamaha is making a profit from the motorcycle and scooter on the T-shirt.

“But my mistake is I didn’t copyright it. Actually, I’m not trying to make a profit, I want the people to be empowered because the rakyat are my boss.”

Yesterday, Dr Mahathir said PAS leaders met him and gave their support in writing for him to remain in the top post. – February 26, 2019.
