RESULTS of DNA tests to identify the 23 victims of a fire at a residential religious school in Kuala Lumpur are expected to be released by tomorrow afternoon, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom.

He said family members would be allowed to claim the bodies of those died at Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah in Kuala Lumpur today once the DNA tests were complete.

“All family members have submitted DNA samples to be matched with the victims.

“The soonest we can get the results is by 3.30pm tomorrow. If the results come out early, we will inform the families,” he said after visiting the families of the victims at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary.

He said most of the families had agreed to bury the victims at Raudhatul Sakinah cemetery.

“But there are requests from some families to bury their loved ones separately,” he said, adding that the government had also provided accommodation at nearby hotels for immediate family members of the victims. – September 14, 2017.
