ONLY RM315 million of the RM1 billion compensation notices issued to land owners affected by ongoing Pan Borneo highway project have been returned to the Land and Survey Department, said Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister Peter Anthony.
He said the acceptance of the remaining RM615 million compensation notices are still in the process.
“The compensation is based on the Land and Survey input on 14 packages which had been gazetted,” he said during his winding up speech at the state legislative assembly Sitting in Kota Kinabalu today.
It is understood several landowners are still waiting for the government to pay them the compensation.
On the development of Sabah railway lines, Anthony said the government will use a diesel-electric train which could travel up to 160kph.
The new train would have the capacity to carry 300 passengers per trip and would be able to pull a cargo weighing 1,200 tonnes, he said.
“The state will be receiving a single diesel multiple unit (DMU), two powered cars and three non-powered cars with a capacity of 280 passengers in June 2019.
“Six units of train coaches will arrive in September, while two more DMUS, four powered cars and six non-powered cars will arrive in March 2020,” he said. – April 18, 2019.
