SABAH Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal today scoffed at claims that Pakatan Harapan is fielding a greenhorn in Vivian Wong, saying she speaks with more maturity than any senior politicians he knows.

He said Vivian was following in the footsteps of her father, who was the Sandakan MP until his death from cardiac arrest this year.

“it’s not about (the number of) one’s years in politics, what’s more important is one’s desire to resolve the people’s problems,” Shafie said, on nomination day for the Sandakan federal by-election, at SMJK Tiong Hua, today.

“My goodness, when I see Vivian delivering her speeches… she is far more mature than any seasoned politicians I have met.

“If I were a Sandakan voter, I would definitely vote for Vivian.”

Shafie was speaking in response to a PBS leader who said Wong is too young and inexperienced to sit in parliament.

Shafie said unlike PBS, Wong is young, energetic and educated and therefore capable of bringing about changes, which PBS had tried to do but failed when it was the opposition in the 1990s and again when it was in Barisan Nasional. – April 27, 2019.
