UMNO’S Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin today confirmed that he and his wife had been questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for alleged corruption.

He told The Malaysian Insight that he was summoned by anti-graft officers in Kota Kinabalu while his actress wife Zizie Ezzete was questioned in Kuala Lumpur.

The outspoken MP and his wife were held for several hours and had their statements recorded by MACC officers, and were released later in the day.

“I was summoned to the MACC office in Kota Kinabalu and my wife to the office in Kuala Lumpur.

“I was released after questioning and MACC will proceed to charge me in court in Kuala Lumpur this Friday.”

It is understood that Bung Mokhtar and his wife had been detained to facilitate an investigation into alleged graft amounting several millions of ringgit and linked to his former role as Felcra chairman.

An MACC source earlier told The Malaysian Insight that the investigation against the couple involves millions of ringgit.

“Yes, the MP was a chairman of a government agency when BN was the federal government,” said the source.
