THOSE who accused the Warisan-led Sabah government of legalising illegal immigrants dare not come forward with evidence because they know it will implicate their political masters from the previous Barisan Nasional administration, Darell Leiking said today.

The Parti Warisan Sabah No. 2, who previously challenged cybertroopers and the media, said today he has always asked them to show proof that Warisan is trying to legalise the illegal immigrants.

“But none had come forward. You know why? They know this is not true.

“They know because if they do it, their old friends in the old government will be implicated. So, they are ashamed to unravel the truth,” he said after launching the Warisan elections in Penampang today.

Illegal immigrants and the stateless are among the long-standing problems in Sabah with many linking the problem to BN through its “Projek IC” in the 1990s.

After Warisan took over the state, it came up with numerous proposals, including “regularisation” and the setting up of a database to track the numbers and whereabouts of illegals.

Sabah opposition leaders, however, said this is a ploy to “legalise” them.

Fed up with the accusations, Leiking challenged the accusers to show him proof, promising them “first-class treatment” if they can do so.

On another note, the international trade and industry minister also called on Warisan members to expose power abuse or corruption of the present government.

Leiking said he heard rumours and want the people to expose corruption so that action can be taken against the perpetrators. – May 4, 2019.
