LIKE all quarrels, the prime minister’s feud with the Johor crown prince will soon pass, said Anwar Ibrahim.

The PKR president said the row between Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim will quickly subside because it is not personal.

“The prime minister wants to ensure the constitutional spirit is preserved while (working towards) ratification of the Rome Statute.

“And I think we (Pakatan Harapan) are with him on that,” he said at the conclusion of his visit to the Ramadan bazaar in Sandakan, today.

He was accompanied by the PH candidate for Sandakan Vivian Wong and Sabah PH chairman Christina Liew.

During an interview yesterday, Dr Mahathir had called the crown prince, or TMJ, “a little boy” who is “stupid”.

Dr Mahathir, 93, said Tunku Ismail, 34, should stop commenting on matters beyond his knowledge.

“I don’t want to comment on the sultan because if I say anything that is not good, it’s not nice because he’s the sultan,” Dr Mahathir was quoted as saying.

“But this TMJ (Tunku Ismail) is a little boy… He is stupid because he doesn’t know what is happening. So don’t talk. When you don’t know anything, don’t talk,” the PM was quoted as saying

Dr Mahathir’s remarks yesterday were the latest salvo following weeks of angry exchanges between him, Tunku Ismail and the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

The row is centred on whether the constitution, the federal government or the royal family has the final say on the administration of the state, including the appointment of state officials. – May 7, 2019.
