Pakatan so busy with treaties, it’s ignoring ordinary folk, says Mat Hasan

PUTRAJAYA has been too busy trying to look good internationally that it has neglected its own manifesto, said Mohamad Hasan.
The acting Umno president accused Pakatan Harapan of being busy ratifying international treaties like the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) and the Rome Statute to the point it neglected focusing on bringing down the cost of living.
“The people are not happy with the Pakatan Harapan government which today has been a year in power.
“There are no drastic changes, no changes in policy, just cosmetic changes adopting or continuing the Barisan Nasional policies like giving out the BR1M cash aid, which once they called as the BN way of bribing Malaysians,” he said during a ceramah at the Bandar Lee Tat, Sandakan, last night.
The Rantau assemblyman is in town to campaign for Parti Bersatu Sabah, which is fielding a candidate for the Sandakan by-election – the former Batu Sapi MP Linda Tsen Thau Lin.
Also present were Umno Supreme Council member and Tuaran division chief Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin, PBS vice-president Radin Malleh, PBS information chief Joniston Bangkuai, PBS Youth chief Jahid Jahim, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku president Jeffrey Kitingan and several Sabah Progressive Party leaders.
Polling is on Saturday.
He said PH has also done nothing to resolve the rising prices of goods and yet the income of most Malaysians remained stagnant, especially those in the rural areas.
On Umno, Mohamad said the party is now undergoing reforms and presently focusing on two areas –strengthening and revival and second, strategising for the next general election.
One of the reforms, he said, is giving full autonomy to Umno in Sabah and making changes to the party constitution in terms of membership and others.
At the same time, Umno will begin cooperation with PAS in the peninsula while Sabah Umno with Solidariti and SAPP.
“We want Sabah Umno to give full mandate and they will be an affiliate to the central Umno in the peninsula.
“Besides who knows better about Sabah than the Sabah Umno leaders. It is not us who are in the Peninsular Malaysia, we don’t know what is happening here,” he said. – May 9, 2019.
