Frankie Phoon appointed Sabah health minister

ACTING Sabah DAP chairman Frankie Phoon has been named the state’s new health and well-being minister after the position fell vacant in March.
Phoon’s current youth and sports portfolio will be given to Ginger Phoong Jin Jie.
Phoong is Luyang assemblyman and Sabah DAP publicity secretary.
Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal said the matter was decided in a recent state cabinet meeting.
“We decided to make the appointment following a consensus by the state cabinet.
“The swearing-in ceremony will be held next Tuesday,” he said in in Kota Kinabalu today.
Shafie was on his way to Kuala Lumpur to attend a Malaysia Agreement 1693 meeting in Putrajaya at 3pm.
The health and well-being minister post fell vacant following the death of Sandakan MP Stephen Wong on March 28.
Phoon had been in charge of the ministry since Wong’s death.
Meanwhile, Sabah DAP treasurer Loh Ee Eng will be appointed as assemblyman. – May 17, 2019.
