PKR has urged the public to stop sharing the sex clips supposedly involving one of its leaders, adding that the matter could be discussed at the party’s political bureau meeting later today.

Its secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the party is against dirty political games, especially when the Pakatan Harapan government has been put in power by the people seeking reforms.

“PKR urges the sharing and discussions on the sex clips to be stopped immediately,” he said in a statement.

“This style of politicking will not benefit the people and the nation,” he said, adding that PKR will continue to focus on helping the federal government implement people related policies and programmes.

Meanwhile, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the party will discuss the latest sex scandal to hit the party in its meeting today.

The Lembah Pantai MP told The Malaysian Insight that the issue will be discussed today as it involves the party’s reputation.

“The political bureau meeting is at 5pm today and we will discuss the issue as PKR’s name has been dragged into it.

“We will decide if the party will issue a statement on the matter or hold a press conference.”

A series of sex clips had gone viral on social media since yesterday showing two men engaged in sexual acts.

One of them has a firm likeness to a senior party leader, who is also a minister.

The other man, Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, this morning confirmed his identity, and publicly named the minister involved in the liaison that allegedly took place in a hotel in Sandakan last month.

Haziq is the senior private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.

Fahmi said the party is looking to check if Haziq is a PKR member.

“He need not necessarily be a party member to be appointed as a deputy minister’s aide,” he said.

Fahmi, however, did not want to comment on the identity of the second man in the clips.

He added PKR will render assistance to the authorities if investigations have started.

Meanwhile, the minister believed to be in the clips has been reported to be in the weekly cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office this morning.

It is also learnt that he had a short meeting with Dr Mahathir before the cabinet meeting. – June 12, 2019.
