DETAILS of party members are not difficult to obtain, said PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in response to queries raised by Mohamed Azmin Ali over the matter.

PKR deputy president Azmin earlier today had alluded to hidden hands within the party working to ruin his reputation and take him down.

He said the party leadership should explain how the culprits who circulated the sex video clips had the contact numbers of all the branch leaders as well as the low-ranking members.

Speaking to reporters after an event in Kota Kinabalu, Saifuddin said the numbers, addresses and details of members were not that hard to get.

“One of the prerequisites in party elections held last year was that there were efforts to collect all these data by the party.

“It is not a big secret. Such details could be collected if they were asked for,” he said.

Saifuddin also said that party president Anwar Ibrahim had reminded party members in Sabah not to take matters into their own hands over the sex video incident.

Earlier this week, sex clips of two men, including one resembling Azmin, went viral on WhatsApp.

This was followed by a confession by Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz that it was him in the clips with Azmin. Azmin denied it was him in the video, calling it a nefarious plot to destroy his political career.

Haziq was arrested and released by police yesterday for investigations over the sex video.

Earlier today, Azmin said that even he had no access to the details of PKR members.

“Who provided this information? Who established the WhatsApp groups (to send out the video clips)?”

Azmin, who is also economic affairs minister, said there were separate WhatsApp groups for PKR members in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsula Malaysia that the party leadership must explain.

“It is now up to the party’s disciplinary committee to investigate how the sender has access to all the contact numbers.

Saifuddin, however, ruled out any internal investigation into the sex scandal, saying that the party has left it to the authorities. – June 16, 2019.
