AN aide to Anwar Ibrahim has denied helping Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz in the latter’s attempt to leave the country days after a sex video implicating PKR No. 2 Mohamed Azmin Ali surfaced.

“I am in Kuala Lumpur, and my routine has been the same – going to the office, and going home after that,” Farhash Wafa Salvador told The Malaysian Insight today.

“I would have been arrested together with Haziq had I been there with him at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.”

Farhash, who is also Perak PKR chief, said there is CCTV footage to show that he was elsewhere on Friday.

“I have kept the CCTV evidence. All the allegations against me are untrue.”

Self-exiled blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin has alleged that Farhash was with Haziq at the airport when the latter tried to leave for Manila, the Philippines, prompting speculation that there are hidden hands in the sex scandal.

Azmin, who is also economic affairs minister, today said he believes that the sex video is the work of a PKR insider.

“Yes, I am convinced.”

It was reported that Farhash had “disappeared” for some days now. English daily The Star said PKR’s internal WhatsApp groups have been abuzz with rumours that Farhash had gone missing since the sex video began circulating on Tuesday.

PKR Youth leader Haziq, who has “confessed” to being one of the two men in the video and named Azmin as the other, was arrested by police at KLIA before he could board a flight out. He was released on Sunday.

Police have also recorded a statement from Azmin.

Farhash said rumours that PKR president Anwar’s supporters are behind the video do not make sense.

“If the video is authentic, Azmin needs to answer to this issue and resign. It doesn’t make sense to link this to Anwar’s supporters. Anyhow, we should let police do their work.”

Four clips and several photos showing two men in compromising positions were distributed via WhatsApp to reporters, police and politicians last week.

Azmin has denied Haziq’s allegation that he is one of the individuals in the video, saying it is a “nefarious plot” to end his political career. – June 18, 2019.
