A PAS Youth member has insinuated that DAP will stuff its war chest with proceeds from the massive Penang South Reclamation project.
Bayan Baru PAS Youth chief Zikrullah Ismail said the controversial venture, which has attracted fierce opposition from local citizen groups, had two objectives.
The first is to fund DAP’s political campaign to take over Sabah and Sarawak while the second is to change the population of South Penang island, which is currently majority Malay.
“The project is worth RM46 billion – there is one consortium and three developers. My political reading is that it can be linked to cronies,” said Zikrullah in his speech at the movement’s assembly today.
“What is the percentage that DAP will tax from the developers? Will they use funds from this and invest in Sabah and Sarawak where we know they are eyeing to take over?
“We are going around collecting donations for our campaign in Sabah and Sarawak and we are allowing them to do this to us.”
According to the project’s proposal, three man-made islands will be created at the south of Penang island which will be the site of commercial properties.
The Penang government claimed that proceeds from the reclamation project will be used to fund its public transport initiatives.
Zikrullah added that the populations of the new islands will change the demographic make-up of the constituencies in the southern part of the island. – June 19, 2019.
