PAS is a stable and mature political party without infighting and turbulence, compared to other political parties in the country with video scandals, said president Abdul Hadi Awang in a clear stab on PKR, the biggest party in Pakatan Harapan.

Hadi lauded the results of yesterday’s youth and Ulama elections, which saw many candidates win unopposed, saying it was a sign there was no competition for top posts.

“This is a sign of calmness within PAS…. (proof) that PAS is not turbulent,” he said at a press conference, adding that “there are no videos in PAS”.

Hadi was referring to last week’s emergence of a series of videos purportedly showing PKR’s deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and Santubong Youth leader Haziq Abdullah Abdul Azis having sex.

Haziq has said that he and Azmin are the two men in the videos but Azmin has denied it is him, calling the affair a plot by PKR insiders to remove him from power.

The PAS Youth election yesterday saw Khairil Nizam Khiruddin elected PAS Youth chief for the 2019-2021 term.

Khairil was the deputy youth chief. He replaces Khalil Abd Hadi, who decided to step down.

Ahmad Fadhli Shaari is the new deputy and Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden is the vice-chairman.

In the ulama wing, Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh replaces Mahfodz Mohamed as the Dewan Ulama head. – June 21, 2019.
