 THE people want to know if the sex videos of Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz and Mohamed Azmin Ali are genuine, and who had arranged for them to be leaked, Anwar Ibrahim said today.

The PKR president said it is important that the public are given answers to these two questions.

“I leave the investigation to the police. But it has to be established if the videos are genuine, and who is the mastermind behind the distribution of the tapes. People want to know this,” he said in the Parliament lobby today.

Police are holding former Santubong PKR Youth leader and five others, believed also to be members of the party, in remand for questioning.

Anwar said today it was up to the police to explain their arrests in the course of investigations.

“This is a police investigation. It is up to them to answer questions on why some are arrested and some are not.”

The six were arrested on Sunday night, Haziq for the second time in connection with the case.

The magistrate court allowed their remand until Saturday under Section 377B of the Penal Code on unnatural sexual relations, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act on abuse of network facilities.

Haziq lost his job as principal private secretary to a deputy minister after he alleged that he and the economic affairs minister were the two men in the clips that surfaced early last month. He was also sacked from PKR.

Azmin has denied the claim, calling the videos an internal conspiracy to ruin him. – July 16, 2019.
