Anwar disappointed, expected Azmin would not show at PKR retreat

ANWAR Ibrahim said he had anticipated Mohamed Azmin Ali’s absence at the PKR retreat.
The PKR president sounded disappointed that his deputy did not come and address party members after he had earlier in the day made conciliatory remarks about a sex video that purportedly involved Azmin.
“We have discussed it. Made a good statement about the current situation. What is the point of fighting,” Anwar told reporters tonight about Azmin’s failure to show up at the retreat in Port Dickson.
Azmin was due to address PKR participants at the retreat.
Anwar had earlier today welcomed police findings that Azmin was “not involved” in a sex video.
Police had said the sex video is authentic but the facial recognition process had failed to confirm if Azmin was one of the two men recorded engaging in sexual acts.
Last month, several clips showing two men engaging in sexual acts together were released via WhatsApp.
Former PKR political aide and Santubong Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz subsequently admitted to being one of the men in the videos, naming Azmin as the other.
The subsequent fallout from the scandal and police investigations had produced nine arrests, including Haziq and notably Anwar’s political secretary, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.
Things came to a boil between both men after Anwar suggested Azmin should quit the government if it was proven that the PKR deputy president was indeed in the sex video in which he had been implicated.
Azmin has always denied any involvement and hit back at Anwar, suggesting the PKR leader reflect on his own track record.
“Look at the man in the mirror,” he told reporters in the Parliament lobby earlier this week.
“Read my lips, tell him to look in the mirror.
