BERSATU, Pakatan Harapan’s Malay-only party, has postponed its party elections until next year.

Bersatu chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced that branch elections will start from January 25 to March 25, while division elections and annual meetings will start on April 4.

Elections for national posts will take place on June 20 next year, Dr Mahathir announced to the media today.

These will be the party’s first ever elections, having formed in September 2016.

He added that only those who had paid their membership dues for two years would be allowed to attend the annual general assembly.

Past reports have suggested that Bersatu will postpone its national elections in order allow its branches and divisions to be firmly established. – August 29, 2019.
