PKR will take action against Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, an aide to party president Anwar Ibrahim, if he is found to be in the wrong in an assault case that is under police investigation.

Party sources said Farhash’s other position as Perak PKR chief was discussed in the political bureau meeting two days ago.

“The meeting on Wednesday discussed the issue involving Farhash.

“The president said that if Farhash is in the wrong, the party will not hesitate to take action. It can be as serious as being sacked from the party,” a senior leader who declined to be named told The Malaysian Insight.

Another party leader said PKR is waiting for the outcome of the police’s investigation.

“For now, we will rely on Farhash’s explanation and wait for the results of the police probe. The party president also wants Farhash to assist the police in investigations,” said the second source, who is also a federal lawmaker.

Anwar yesterday urged Farhash, who is his political secretary, to step forward and assist in police investigations. Police have summoned him but he has not heeded calls to show up for questioning.

Farhash’s statement is required in connection with an assault case on August 31 in Ampang, Selangor.

Three men who are Muay Thai trainers, were also wanted in connection with the case and had turned themselves in at the Ampang Jaya police district headquarters,

Until last night, police have been unable to trace Farhash, who initially said a police report about the incident was lodged against him and not himself, although his name was mentioned.

Farhash also said that the victim in the alleged assault had tried to rape and outrage his wife’s modesty two years ago. – September 6, 2019.
