PKR says Bukit Gantang MP now a member, but ex-Umno man denies it

PERAK PKR today said is has accepted Bukit Gantang MP Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal into its fold.

Perak PKR said in a statement that the party’s political bureau had agreed to accept Syed Abu Hussin as a member.

But Syed Abu Hussin denies he has joined PKR or ever applied to join the party since quitting Umno last year.

He was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini that he had never applied to join PKR and remains an independent MP.

“You ask them to state when did I ever apply to join them,” he was quoted as saying.

Earlier, Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador said the decision to accept the former Umno man was made at a meeting today.

“With his experience, I am sure he will be able to assist the Pakatan Harapan state government, and strengthen the state PKR leadership,” said Farhash.

Umno has lost 17 MPs since the general election, with a large group of them joining Bersatu.

Umno now has 37 MPs in Dewan Rakyat.

Meanwhile, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the party was still deliberating on the application of former Sabah Umno leader Salleh Said Keruak.

He said the political bureau was waiting for feedback from Sabah PKR on Salleh’s application. – October 18, 2019.
