Anwar has had enough of PKR leaders skipping meets

IT will be up to the PKR leadership council to recommend actions against leaders who skip party meetings, said Anwar Ibrahim.
The PKR president said he had, up to now, taken a soft approach.
The party constitution allows for leaders who give meetings a miss to be stripped of their posts, he said.
“We preferred to take a soft approach, to give them space to think about their actions. This is why we have not used the party constitution against them.
“But now, it will depend on the leadership council. I always take heed of their views,” he told reporters after attending a PKR event in Kedah today.
Some party leaders have urged for action to be taken against their peers who do not attend meets, he said, but they were told to stay calm.
PKR has been rocked by spats between the faction supporting Anwar and backers of his deputy, Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Azmin and his supporters have been accused of not attending party meetings because of the ongoing rift.
This was stated as one of the reasons the youth wing retracted its invitation to the party No. 2 to officiate at its congress next month.
Breaking with the tradition of having the deputy president officiate at wings’ gatherings, the youth congress will now see former PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail taking over officiating duties.
Azmin has blamed hidden hands in the party for the snub, saying there are attempts to shut him up. – November 16, 2019.
