PKR leaders want disciplinary action against the deputy youth chief, Hilman Idham, and other dissenters over the wing’s annual congress next month.

Hilman is the leading figure of a faction that insists PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali should officiate the PKR youth congress in Malacca on December 6.

This is despite party and youth wing leaders agreeing to invite former party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail instead.

Hilman and his faction insist that the wing should stick with tradition and allow the party deputy president to launch the congress.

Labelling Hilman’s move as strange and irrational, Kedah PKR chairman Johari Abdul said the youth wing’s decision on the matter is final.

“The deputy youth chief’s decision is unusual when the wing has already made a decision. But the deputy youth chief wants to hijack the congress. This is strange and something is amiss.

“Of course, the party disciplinary board has to take action,” he told The Malaysian Insight at the reformasi congress in Shah Alam yesterday.

Pahang PKR chief Fuziah Salleh slammed the action of going against the party’s decision.

She said the group is trying to cause trouble so that leaders are sacked.

“It is up to the political bureau to make a decision. I feel even if action is taken, they would not listen. Because they want to get sacked.

“I think the party is stronger than that. Let these mosquitoes buzz but I am confident in the reformasi agenda.

“They’re not following party rules. They just want to push their agenda and not fight for the party,” the Kuantan MP said.

Both leaders said there are proper avenues to resolve the disagreement.

“There will be differences in opinion in any organisation. That’s why Anwar, as president, has said that those with a different opinion should attend meetings,” said Johari.

“If there is criticism, it should be aired in the meeting. Follow the right platform. Everybody in the party can do it,” said Fuziah.

Meanwhile, PKR Youth wing chief Akmal Nasir said errant and recalcitrant party leaders must be ready to face disciplinary action.

The leadership crisis in the party has seen Anwar and Azmin unable to see eye-to-eye on several issues for months. The situation further deteriorated when the youth wing decided to snub Azmin. – November 25, 2019.
