HIGH moral values and outstanding intellectuals are among the factors that must be present in future Malay leaders who will lead the nation, said Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan today.

He said only leaders with such capabilities and caliber can turn Malaysia into becoming a leading nation.

“For some time now, the moral crisis affecting our leadership is worrying.

“This country must not be led by someone with a suspect morality. Malaysia needs leaders who are fair and humble,” he said in his speech to officiate the annual meeting of Umno’s Youth, Wanita and Puteri wings at the Putra World Trade Centre.

He urged Umno’s Youth, Wanita and Puteri wings to unearth such capable leaders who can lead the party and nation in the future.

“My biggest fear is who should we leave this party to. Our work ahead is big and heavy.

“As a Malay party, we must leave behind a pool of talented Malay leaders who can lead the nation, and not just the party and our race,” he said.
