POLICE will call in several more people, including a politician, for questioning over claims that PKR president Anwar Ibrahim had sexually assaulted a former staffer, said federal police Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamad.

Huzir said police have questioned eight people, including Anwar and his accuser Muhammed Yusoff Rawther, who used to work as a researcher at the PKR president’s office.

He confirmed that a politician would be among those to be called in but refused to identify the person.

“So far, we have recorded statements from eight individuals, and will be calling in more people, including a politician, to complete our investigation,” he said after an event in Shah Alam today.

He also said police will use a polygraph test in the investigation.

Earlier today, Yusoff’s lawyer, Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla, said his client was ready to take a polygraph test to prove his claims against Anwar.

“My client confirmed with me yesterday, December 15, that in order to assist the police in carrying out a fair, thorough and just investigation on his report dated December 7, he is willing and ready to carry out a polygraph test at any time, date and venue to be decided by the police,” said Haniff in a statement.

Yusoff lodged a police report that Anwar allegedly sexually assaulted him more than a year ago.

The former Yayasan Aman staff had earlier made a statutory declaration that Anwar allegedly tried to force Yusoff to perform sexual acts on him at his home in Bukit Segambut on October 2 last year.

The statutory declaration was widely shared on social media and chat groups on December 4, the same day Yusoff held a press conference on the matter.
