Lodge complaints, don’t whine online, Umno tells members

LODGE complaints on breaches of party discipline with the Umno disciplinary board instead of posting on social media and moaning about a lack of action, members are told.
Umno disciplinary management department head Zulkifli Ibrahim said the board can only act on official complaints.
“We must get an official report based on the format we have agreed on,” he told The Malaysian Insight.
Several state Umno Youth heads have urged the disciplinary board to act against Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam for attacking president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi online.
Selangor Youth chief Rizam Ismail wants Lokman to be punished accordingly.
“The punishment must be severe… to serve as a reminder to other members to safeguard the image of the president from attacks that do not follow the party’s laws.”
Johor Youth chief Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said he wants Lokman sacked.
“Stern action must follow, as we are building up our strength. It cannot be ruined by parasites within the party.”
Zulkifli said his department will fix a hearing date and call up the complainant and witnesses.
The case will be brought to a tribunal after the committee is satisfied with the statements given and evidence produced, he said.
“After completing everything, we will suggest that the case be brought to a tribunal. At the tribunal, we will produce a show-cause letter to the accused.”
Witnesses and complainants are summoned to clarify matters deemed vague.
“The case can still be withdrawn at this stage. If not, we will call up the accused to explain himself during the evening session,” said Zulkifli.
“It looks like there is a lot to do, but what we want is for the accused and the complainant to be given justice and fairness.” – January 4, 2020.
