UMNO Youth division leaders today lodged a disciplinary complaint against party supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam for allegedly bringing disrepute to the party. 

They said Lokman had instigated disciplinary action against former vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein, and had been vocal in Apandi Ali’s decision to step down as the disciplinary board chairman. 

The complainants were Subang chief Mohd Alfie Zainal Abidin, Zulkifli Rajalie (Ampang), Shah Zanuriman Nuar Paras Khan (Selayang), Ahmad Feardaus Daud (Gombak), Mohd Neezam Abdul Aziz (Pandan), Mohamad Syahir Mohd Yusof (Hulu Langat), Ashrul Ashryzad Mohd Nashri (Bandar Tun Razak), Mohd Khairul Nizam Mohd Isa (Bukit Bintang) and Subang division’s Youth wing committee member Izzat Zabir Sarif. 

Alfie told reporters that Lokman had breached the party’s constitution and regulations by his actions in bringing to disrepute the party’s reputation and ignoring the party leadership’s stand.

“He had made noise over Apandi’s decision to step down as the chairman of Umno disciplinary board. 

“He had also questioned the party’s decision in not wanting to subject Hishammuddin to disciplinary inquiry, and this has affected the party,” he told The Malaysian Insight. 

Alfie added that Lokman, as a supreme council member, should have used party channels to raise his concerns instead of criticising on social media.

Last week, Lokman lashed out at party leaders after a disciplinary complaint filed against the Sembrong MP was postponed. 

Apandi had then resigned from his position, saying his freedom to initiate proceedings was being impeded. 

Lokman claimed Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had scuttled the hearing and insinuated that there were behind the scenes horse-trading with the ruling coalition. 

The disciplinary complaint against Hishammuddin was over allegations that he had facilitated the defection of Umno MPs to Bersatu as well as his role in organising a meeting of Umno MPs with Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is also the PKR deputy president. 

Party secretary-general Annuar Musa however denied any interference in the disciplinary board’s process. – January 2, 2020.
