PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said his faction, which includes Barisan Nasional, has sufficient MPs to form a new government.

Takiyuddin said they have 129 MPs on their side, more than enough to form a government.

He also added that PAS and BN MPs will be having an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara at 5pm today.

He said Dr Mahathir Mohamad will also be present with them.

“We have 129 MPs to form a government. This evening we will seek an audience with the King,” he said.

When asked if Dr Mahathir will be with them for the visit, Takiyuddin said: “Yes”.

Earlier today, Dr Mahathir tendered his resignation as the prime minister. He is also scheduled to meet the King at 5pm over his decision.

In a series of events arising from Dr Mahathir’s resignation, Bersatu announced that it has pulled out of Pakatan Harapan while PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali revealed that he and 10 others MPs have quit the party to form an independent bloc in Parliament.

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had also had an audience with the King. – February 24, 2020.
