IT was time Malaysians woke up and realised that the country was in bad shape with misappropriations at a critical level, Muhyiddin Yassin told a crowd of about 3,000 in Muar, Johor last night.

“If there were no brave people in the country, Malaysia would fall into an abyss.

“The prime minister (Najib Razak) has done unthinkable things that the people have to bear the shame and a huge burden,” the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president said.

Muhyiddin said Bersatu adviser, the former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was brave in demanding for Najib’s resignation.

Najib’s resignation was also brought up in the Dewan Rakyat, he said, but many MPs were afraid to support the motion.

“They know what Najib has done that forced the people to bear the debts of the country. They support him even though the law was broken and religion disregarded.

“They fear they won’t get to contest in seats like this one, Muar,” he said.

The Muar parliamentary seat is held by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s department Datuk Razali Ibrahim.

“In the end, Tun M had to take the cause to the people and called it the ‘People’s Declaration’, asking them to sign it,” he said.

Muhyiddin, who is Pagoh MP, urged the people to remove Najib in the coming general election and his call for Pakatan Harapan to take Johor and Putrajaya was answered with cheers.

“It’s time to close the book on Umno. It has become rotten,” he said, as the enthusiastic crowd answered “yes”.

Muhyiddin also alleged that the donation worth billions of ringgit that Najib reportedly received in his bank accounts in 2013 was not from the royal family in Saudi Arabia.

“It was the people’s money. It was not money from the Arab king. It was your money,” he said.

Muhyiddin was sacked by Najib in 2015 from his post as deputy prime minister and education minister. He had been questioning Najib over his handling of the 1MDB scandal and the donation issue.

Also at the ceramah were Dr Mahathir, Bersatu vice president Mukhriz Mahathir, Bersatu Youth chief Syed Sadiq Abdul Rahman and other PH leaders. – April 29, 2017.
