28 days of no new cases to be Covid-19-free, says health D-G

MALAYSIA can only be declared Covid-19-free if no new positive cases is recorded for 28 consecutive days, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The methodology would be similar to how the Health Ministry clears Covid-19 clusters by observing two cycles of the virus incubation period.
“We utilise the same method with what we did previously when we declared a cluster Covid-19-free. That is our benchmark,” the director-general of health told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
New Zealand was declared Covid-19-free yesterday after its final patient was discharged, with no new cases for 17 days straight.
In Malaysia, 35 clusters have been declared Covid-19-free, with 28 active clusters remaining.
Malaysia today recorded 31 new cases and 51 recoveries, with 1,186 active cases. More than half the active cases involved foreigners, mostly held at detention centres.
No deaths was reported today, with the toll remaining at 118. – June 11, 2020.
