4 Covid-19 recoveries, 2 new cases, no deaths

MALAYSIA recorded four Covid-19 recoveries as of noon today, with two new cases reported in the same period, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

No new fatalities were reported, keeping the death toll at 125.

The total number of cases is now 9,001, with overall recoveries standing at 8,668. There are 208 active cases.

Both new cases are local transmissions involving Malaysians.

One patient is being treated in intensive care.

Of the local transmissions, one new case was detected in the Sivagangga cluster in Kedah, while another – a returning college student – was detected at the Labuan entry point.

On the Sivagangga cluster, Noor Hisham said 425 people have been screened as of noon today. Of that figure, 21 people – 16 locals and five foreigners – tested positive for Covid-19 while 42 others are awaiting their results. – August 3, 2020.
