PUTRAJAYA will allow wedding ceremonies to be held in areas under the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) areas but with strict compliance to standard operating procedures (SOPs), said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Ismail said the decision was made at the National Security Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin this morning.

“The meeting agreed to allow weddings to continue but they would need to adhere to the SOPs. Social distancing, temperature checks and checking-in are a must,” the defence minister said in his daily briefing today.

The CMCO areas include Klang in Selangor as well as Tawau, Semporna, Kunak and Lahad Datu in Sabah.

Ismail said weddings should have close supervision from either People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) or the venue management in accordance with the number of guests.

“Weddings in villages or housing estates should be done with the supervision of Rela and if needed at the hotels, with supervision from the hotel management.

“For events below 100 guests, the suggested number of Rela members is two, for 100 to 300 guests, there should be three Rela members and for 300 to 500 guests, there should be four, and so on,” he said.

Attendees from outside the CMCO areas also only needed to show the wedding invitation to go through roadblocks,” said Ismail.

He said the CMCO for the four Sabah areas have been extended until October 26.

“As there are still new cases recorded in the area, today’s special session (meeting) agreed to extend the CMCO in these districts,” Ismail said. – October 9, 2020.
