LAWYERS for Turgay Karaman and Ismet Ozcelik will file a judicial review if the two Turks are not released by police soon, arguing that the two are academicians and have nothing to do with terrorists movements.
“We will be writing to the authorities soon to ask them to be released. If that fails, then we will have to file a judicial review in court to say that the process of detaining them has been totally misconceived,” Rosli said after visting the two men at the Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman.
Rosli also said that the police should let their clients go as they are academicians and have nothing to do with the Islamic State (IS) and the Fetullah Gullen Terrorist Organisation (FETO) movement.
Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Turgay and Ihsan were arrested for alleged links to IS activities.
“We hope that our Malaysian authorities are objective about this. If they are not involved in any terror organisations they should be released, and if their presence is not welcomed here, they should be allowed to travel to any other country of their choice.
“But they do not want to be sent to Turkey, because according to Turgay Karaman, there are 50 people who have died while under detention in Turkey,” he said.
Also there with Rosli was Turgay’s wife Ayse Gul Karaman who said she was relieved after meeting her husband today.
“I met him for an hour. He is in good condition as they treated him well. I am thankful to the police for letting me see him,” she said.
A few hours later Ihsan Aslan wife, Ainnurul Aisyah Yunus was seen exiting Bukit Aman with her three children.
“The children are very happy. My husband also had happy tears. At least I know he is in good care,” she said.
When asked what kind of legal action her husband’s lawyers will be taking, she said the lawyers will be meeting with the police on Thursday.
“The only feedback I received is that it is pending an investigation. But my lawyers will be meeting my husband on Thursday,” she said.
Three Turkish nationals, Ihsan Aslan, Turgay Karaman and Ismet Ozcelik were arrested on May 3 and May 4. – May 9, 2017.
