A SATIRE posted online by popular local comedian Douglas Lim has captured Malaysians’ feeling of disbelief over a minister getting off scot-free for breaching quarantine rules.

In the short video titled Pengarah Masterclass, Lim plays a director telling his students how to run a show.

When a person named Min Easter appears, the director immediately dismisses him, saying “cut, cut… no further action.”

Lim tells Min Easter he “can go anywhere” and to help himself to the roti jala and “kuah ayam” and “kuah daging” but not the “kuah-rantine”.

“There are no custard puffs,” Lim says, a wordplay on “clusters”.

Lim’s efforts have earned him kudos on social media.

“First class political satire, Douglas. Very sengit!,’ said the Green Party of Malaysia.

Izzat Aiman said: “oii douglas…sudah mau darurat pulak daa.. can’t wait to see more videos from you.”

“Min Easter ehh? Hahahahahahah bagi lagi doug bagi lagi,” said Azrin sam.

Two days ago, the Attorney-General’s Chambers decided that no further action would be taken against Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali for violating a quarantine order in July.

The decision evoked outrage and allegations of double standards for the political elite, several of whom have been caught breaching movement restrictions introduced to contain a Covid-19 epidemic.

Prime Minister Muhyddin Yassin denied the ministers, himself included, were exempt from complying with strict health and safety rules.

He said the AGC’s decision was based on the fact that Khairuddin was not issued with the quarantine order form 14B.

This again caused a public uproar as ordinary citizens were daily charged, convicted and sentenced to heavy fines and even jailed for violating virus containment rules. – October 24, 2020.
