POLICE have launched an operation to capture the 400 people who escaped from Medan 88, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi in Sepang, which has been placed under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO), said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Ismail Sabri said the authorities are confident of nabbing the escapees, as it was learnt their employers were involved in the escape.

“Whenever there is EMCO, we have seen people running away, and one by one, we have captured them.

“This time, I think it is easier because there are employers involved.

“They brought buses to take their employees out of EMCO areas, so we can track easily the 400 through the employers,” the defence minister said, adding that both the employers and employees will be penalised.

He said the escapees and their employers have put the public in danger.

“It is not just the employees who will be punished but their employers as well who have defied enforcement.”

Medan 88 has been put under lockdown from today until November 25, after a high number of Covid-19 infections were detected in the area.

This involved 88 shoplot units, 284 premises and 800 residents. – November 12, 2020.
