SENIOR Minister Ismail Sabri today reminded those celebrating Deepavali tomorrow to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures.

He warned that police would patrol housing estates and villages to ensure the guidelines were obeyed.

He said not more than 20 people were allowed in a landed residence and not more than 15 in an apartment at a time.

“In areas under an enhanced movement control order (MCO), families may only celebrate at home.

“In conditional MCO areas, neighbours may visit but not more than 20 people at a time.

“For those who will be praying at the temples, the SOP is 30 people at a time and for a maximum 30 minutes,” Ismail Sabri said in a daily press conference.

He said interstate travel remained barred for people in EMCO and CMCO areas.

“I hope no one is planning to go back to their hometown because you will be asked to turn back.

“For now, I am informed that the traffic flow is under control and that there is no unusual congestion detected so far.”

Deepavali SOPs were announced last week to limit movement and gatherings to prevent the spread of Covid-19. – November 13, 2020.
