More than 560 nabbed over SOP violations

POLICE nabbed 568 individuals for various offences linked to movement control order restrictions in the past 24 hours, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“A total of 516 individuals were compounded, 49 individuals were remanded and three were released on bail,” Ismail said in a statement.

Not complying with physical-distancing rules was the top offence (160), followed by activities in entertainment centres (131) and not wearing a mask in public (116).

Other offences included failure to provide personal records (56), interstate or interdistrict travel without permission (43) and others (62).

“Police also made 51,245 inspections nationwide yesterday, involving 11,875 officers.”

Also yesterday, 250 roadblocks were mounted nationwide and 42 illegal immigrants held.

“The government will take stern action against any party who tries to enter our borders illegally.

“Enforcement agencies will continue tightening the borders, especially in rat lanes,” the minister said. – November 15, 2020.
