THE temporary detention centre (PTS) in Kota Kinabalu, the Kepayan prison, and the prison quarters at Taman Mat Salleh, Kg Matambai, will no longer be under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) from today, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

The end of the order is as scheduled after the Health Ministry conducted a total of 1,824 screenings at PTS Kota Kinabalu and recorded a total of 425 Covid-19 positive cases.

Meanwhile, a total of 3,970 screenings were done at the Kepayan Prison, of which 1,857 were positive cases.

“As of November 14, the number of cases have been under control with only 25 active cases in PTS Kota Kinabalu and one active case in Kepayan Prison,” Ismail Sabri said in his daily press conference on Covid-19 movement restrictions.

“Based on the advice by the Health Ministry and its risk assessment, the National Security Council today agreed to terminate the EMCO.”

All residents in the respective areas are currently subjected to the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the conditional MCO that is implemented throughout the state of Sabah.

Aside from that, the defence minister also announced the termination of EMCO at the Health Ministry’s training institute in Johor Bahru.

The EMCO was imposed on the institute on November 3 and was scheduled to end today.

“The Health Ministry has carried out a total of 1,291 screenings and recorded a total of 33 positive Covid-19 cases (at the institute).

“The last positive case was reported on November 10. Until November 14, the Health Ministry has been informed that based on screening sample results obtained, the number of cases are all under control.”

The training institute will also now be subjected to CMCO rules. – November 16, 2020.
